A Security Blanket for a Dog?

Daisy has one! We call it bunny. She's on her second one although she could probably use a new one. You'd be surprised how hard they are to come by. We take it everywhere we go and yes it has to be washed. It all started when she was a puppy. We had placed the bunny in her cage when we left or when we were eating to keep her from begging. One night at dinner I heard the most peculiar noise. When I glanced over at Daisy I noticed that she was sucking the face of her bunny with a gentle whimper. I thought it strange at first, but I remembered how her dad used to do the same thing with a tennis ball. The habit stuck. She sucks bunny when she wakes up, when we come home, when company comes over, and after it's been washed. I often wonder if Doobie still does it.

Mandy,
Murphy doesn't have a blanket, but he has a Monkey puppet. Well, it used to be a puppet. One of those really big, long droopy ones. We also put it in his cage at night to keep him company when he was a puppy. It was the same color as his brothers and sisters. It is now a big rag that we continue to knot together so it doesn't fall apart. When he is bored he graps it and stands in front of us begging us to try and take it from him. Who says dogs don't reason????

I totally agree. Both of my dogs have what we call "friends." Faith has what was once a winnie the pooh doll and Sadie has a squeaky toy that doesn't squeak anymore. They have had them forever. We have had to fix Pooh a million times. (We tell Faith it's in surgery & Sadie will ONLY play with the toy that looks like a car)They are always close to the dogs. I say the reason we connect to dogs is that we have many of the same characteristics....

Gracie has a frog and a bird that she loves to cuddle up to. She lays her head on them and sniffs. WAIT, she isn't cuddling, she is getting high! (They are catnip of course!) Cats are so different than dogs.

When Louie our dog was a puppy he used to suck on the upper claw of his paw. It was so cute. He sucked on it until he fell asleep. He doesn't do it anymore. He must of grew out of it. When we first got him I wore an old t-shirt to and then put it in his kennel at night. He never whined. They are all such vital parts of our lives. We don't talk about them often enough.
